UPDATE ON CARE AND WELFARE ACTIVITIES OF CUSTOMS HEALTH CARE SOCIETY FOR DROUGHT STRICKEN POPULATION OF THAR (MARCH 2014 TO DECEMBER 2015)
In the wake of shortage / scarcity of water, the CHCS has embarked upon the work of digging of new wells in the drought hit areas. The 150 wells / hand pumps so far completed are providing clean drinking water to thousands of people as well as animals of Thar on daily basis. 2. The details of medical and relief work so far undertaken by the teams of CHCS in drought hit areas of Tharparkar is given as under:- i) Completion of 100 wells of sweet, hygienic and fresh water in different Goths of Thar. The work on 20 wells is in progress. ii) Establishment of four clinics which are providing medical help on regular basis. iii) Establishment of two Sewing and Stiching Centers for women in Diplo and Navankot, Mitthi in order to provide them livelihood. iv) Distribution of Cash. iii) Treatment of 200,000 patients since March 2014 in drought stricken areas of Tharparkar. iv) Continued supply and Distribution of Relief goods including ration worth millions of rupees. v) Installation of deep bore 10 hand pumps. vi) Customs Health Care Society Primary School, Tharparkar. 3. The relief work by the Customs Health Care Society (CHCS) for the drought stricken people of Thar will Insha Allah is still continuing without any break.
